The ammonite inspired shape has been a feature of my printmaking for a long time. I appreciate the sense of eternity, the never ending spiral has positive, neutral and negative connotations. Sometimes it's just a lovely pattern. Sometimes, when I'm really still and in the zone, it holds the meaning of life.
The progress rubbings clarify whether more should be removed. It is a slow process that relieves the intensity of life's other activities.
Ferociously claiming space and time for creative pursuits is a daily practice developed through Creative Strength Training with Jane Dunnewold. Daily practice may be no more than perusing a journal or working back into one of the pages. It can be the quiet reflection and self-check of whether my actions and commitments remain aligned to the stars and the gifts from the ammonite.
